WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2020 Preview & Predictions

Hooray, it's the final WWE PPV of the shitshow known as 2020!

This Sunday, five days before Christmas, is the usually superfluous Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV, where the company more or less treads water before Royal Rumble season starts and The Road to WrestleMania begins.  Yes there have been some good December PPV matches, but they're usually few and far between, and the end-of-year PPVs are generally fairly skippable.  This edition looks that way as well, particulary given how poorly most of these matches have been built up.  Let's take a look...

RAW Tag Team Championship: The New Day vs. The Hurt Business

As successful an act as The New Day has been these last five-and-a-half years, it might be time to fully split them.  They've done all that can be done, with ten Tag Titles in all over the course of their run.  Kofi and Xavier winning these belts at this point doesn't mean a whole lot, especially since Kofi is a former WWE Champion.  With that in Mind, let's give Shelton and Cedric a run with them.

Pick: Hurt Business

Smackdown Women's Championship: Sasha Banks vs. Carmella

Really guys?  Carmella's the best you got?  Fuck outta here with this.

Pick: Sasha retains

Women's Tag Team Championship: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax vs. Asuka & ???

So lemme get this straight.  Lana has been feuding with the champs for months, getting put through a table on a weekly basis, so as to build her up as a sympathetic babyface, so everyone will rejoice when she finally gets revenge.  Then when her "revenge" finally arrives, it consists of a fluke pinfall over Nia, after which she gets beaten down so badly she's out of the PPV match.  So now RAW Women's Champion Asuka has to find a new partner, even though this wasn't really her feud and she's already got a much more prestigious championship.  This is fucking stupid.  I'm gonna guess the mystery partner is Charlotte.  Could also be Rhea Ripley getting called up I suppose.  But Charlotte seems the safer bet.

Pick: Mystery partners always win, so the babyfaces win the belts here.

Firefly Inferno Match: Randy Orton vs. The Fiend

Jesus Harold Christ.  Remember in 2017 when these two buffoons feuded for like three months and every one of their matches was unwatchably terrible?  Expect more of that here, especially with it being an Inferno Match.  This is pure drivel.

Pick: The Fiend I guess?

TLC Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens

The good news is Kevin Owens is finally doing something again.  The bad news is he's just a stopgap until they find a more important feud for Roman (I have a sinking feeling his 'Mania opponent will be Goldberg).  These guys have worked together before; feuding over this same championship in 2017.  Now the roles are reversed, but the heel champion will retain again.

Pick: Roman Reigns retains againe

TLC WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles

Given the talent involved this match should be solid, unless of course AJ relies on constant Miz & Morrison interference.  I know Drew has all the tools to be a top star, but I gotta say I still don't see it.  He's.....fine.  But he doesn't grab my attention the way a top guy should.  I have no idea what their WrestleMania plan is for him; who the hell is left?  Anyway this should be decent.

Pick: Drew retains

Another abbreviated PPV lineup as of now.  They'll probably add a match or two tomorrow.  Another WWE PPV I'm not sad to be missing.....
